It's Hopping.

We've been hopping busy, in more ways than one. We adopted a cute little rabbit. It was a spontaneous decision, which we understand is not the best way to decide to bring another being into your house and your life. But the boys were so excited, and it just seemed like the right fit. She even color coordinates with our bathroom.

She's a little over a year old, or so we guess. We got her at the feed store, where we went to get chicken supplies and play with the baby chicks (so cute!). They don't really deal in rabbits at the feed store, they are primarily a bird and bird supply store, so the owners were very eager to pass her off to us. Apparently, someone had brought her in and asked if they could sell her. So when we inquired about her price, the owner said, "She's $5 if you take her home today, and I'll throw in her food, her hay, her litter box, her feeding bowl and her water." I don't know if his eagerness to get rid of her should have given us pause, but instead, the boys marveled, "Five dollars?!" And it was clear we would be taking her home.

She's a dutch rabbit, and she was already named Grigia when we got her. Grigia means gray in Italian. We thought that was a pretty good name, and since we were already changing so many things about her life, we decided to at least keep that. She has been slowly adjusting to this whole new life with us, and we have been doing the same with her. Lots of trips to PetSmart, lots of reading, lots of trial and many errors. But it's getting easier every day, and the boys are really so happy we have her.

And don't worry, we haven't forgotten about our chickens in all the excitement of our new pet. We have plenty of love to go 'round.
